Soil organic matter accumulates more rapidly in young greens with lower OM content to begin with
This is an obvious concept but the implications are complex. If soil organic matter accumulates more rapidly in young soils, and if one wants to manage soil organic matter most efficiently, then it makes sense to keep the soils in an older, rather than in a younger, state.
